About us

Residential solar consultant for Indonesia. Honest-first, one point of contact.

We help homeowners in Indonesia pick, size, and install rooftop solar. Our role is independent consultant, not installer. No sales pressure. No jargon dump. Recommendations that fit, including when now isn't the right time to buy.

Why we exist

Putting solar on a home in Indonesia is still messy.

You start looking at solar and you end up with 5 quotes from 5 installers. Prices are all over the map, the panel specs differ, the inverter brands differ, the warranties differ. Comparing one to another is hard. The technical jargon makes it harder.

In the end, a Rp 30 to 100 million decision gets made on a half guess. Or, more often, the decision keeps getting pushed because no one knows where to start.

Juragan Listrik exists to fill the neutral seat: we run the numbers that actually fit your home, we explain the trade-offs in plain language, and if solar isn't yet a good fit for your situation, we tell you straight. We're a consultant, not an installer's sales arm.

Our approach

One point of contact, accountable end-to-end.

You talk to one party: us. First chat, sizing, home survey, install coordination, post-install support.

The partner installer team that does the physical work has been vetted by us. If anything goes wrong on the build, you ping us, not the technician on the roof.

That means you don't get random quotes with no context, you don't need to negotiate price on your own, and if the installation hits a snag, the line of accountability is in one place.

What we commit to

What we believe.

Honest recommendations

If solar doesn't fit your home yet, we'll tell you. If it makes more sense to cut your usage first, we'll say so. Getting it right matters more than closing fast.

One point of contact, accountable

You talk to us from the first chat through post-install support. If anything goes wrong on installation day, the line of accountability is clear. You're never bounced between us and the installer.

Transparent assumptions

Our calculator shows every assumption: PLN tariffs, panel yield, derating. The result is an estimate, not a final quote. Specific numbers come out of the consultation, with detail relevant to your home.

Coverage

We cover the entire Indonesian archipelago, with a primary focus on Bali villa solar installations for expat homeowners. Cities with linked articles dive deeper; everywhere else is case-by-case over WhatsApp.

Bali (Ubud, Canggu, Uluwatu, Pererenan, Seminyak, Lovina, Singaraja) is where we do the bulk of our off-grid and hybrid villa work. If you own or are buying a villa in Bali and want a solar setup that fits the property, that's our home turf.

Frequently asked questions

Juragan Listrik FAQ.

Common questions homeowners ask before booking a consultation. Each answer stands on its own so you can skim.

What is Juragan Listrik?

Juragan Listrik is a residential solar consultant in Indonesia. We help homeowners pick the right system, run the numbers, coordinate the survey and installation through our partner installer, and support you after the panels are up. Our role is independent advisor, not direct installer.

How is a solar consultant different from an installer?

An installer puts panels on roofs and usually chases sales volume. A consultant gives advice based on your actual needs, including telling you when solar isn't yet a good fit. Because we sit in the advisor seat, our incentives line up with yours, not with installer sales targets.

How much does a consultation cost?

The consultation is free. The calculator is free. The estimate is free. Costs only show up if you decide to install through our partner installer, and the equipment and labor pricing is transparent and based on real field quotes. There are no hidden consultation fees.

Where do you cover?

All of Indonesia. Our hyper-local content focus includes South Jakarta, Bekasi, Tangerang, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Sidoarjo, Gresik, Banyuwangi, Denpasar, Makassar, Manado, and Kupang, with more being added. Locations outside our focus list are still covered, with installer transport cost adjusted for distance. Bali villa expat homeowners are a primary focus.

How long does it take from first chat to running panels?

Initial consultation is typically 1 to 2 days over WhatsApp. Site survey usually happens 1 to 2 weeks after you decide to move forward. Installation and commissioning typically take 2 to 5 working days depending on system size. End to end from first chat to live system: 3 to 6 weeks on average.

What kind of warranty comes with a solar system?

Manufacturer warranties: 25-year linear performance on the panels (minimum 80% output at year 25), 10 to 12 years on the hardware. 5 to 10 years on inverters. 5 to 10 years on batteries. Workmanship warranty: 1 year from our partner installer, written separately from the manufacturer warranties.

Can I just buy solar panels myself, without you?

Yes, and we won't try to talk you out of it. The trade-off is you'll be negotiating with 3 to 5 vendors yourself, comparing technical quotes yourself, and absorbing the risk yourself if installation goes wrong. We exist because a lot of homeowners want one accountable point of contact through the process and an independent second opinion.

What does the partner installer team do?

Our partner installer team handles the home survey, the physical installation of panels, inverter, and battery, and the system commissioning. We vet them on workmanship, electrical licensing, and prior installation history before they go on a job. The workmanship warranty is held by the installer directly, with us as the escalation path if anything comes up.

Do you sell solar panels?

No. We are a consultant, not a panel store or distributor. The panels, inverter, and battery are supplied and installed by our partner installer. We sit in the advisor and coordinator seat, not the hardware seller seat.

When does solar not make sense for a home?

It usually doesn't fit if: your PLN bill is below Rp 500,000 a month (slow ROI), your roof faces south with heavy shading, you're planning to leave the home in less than 5 years, or your cash budget is below Rp 25 million with no financing plan. In those cases we typically recommend cutting usage first or waiting.

Are you a solar panel installer?

No. We're a residential solar consultant. We sit in the advisor seat: we help you pick the right system, evaluate options, and coordinate the install. The physical installation is done by our vetted partner installer team. The difference: an installer chases sales volume; we focus on the right recommendation for your specific home.

What's the difference between a consultant, installer, vendor, and supplier?

Consultant (our role): independent advice, sizing, install coordination, your advocate. Installer: the technical team that physically installs the system on your home. Vendor: a company that sells solar systems end-to-end (panels, inverter, labor in one package). Supplier: a distributor or manufacturer of components (panels, inverter, batteries) selling to vendors and installers, rarely directly to homeowners.

How do I pick a solar installer to make sure the install is safe?

Check 5 things before signing: licensed electrical installer (Kemnaker certification in Indonesia), portfolio of at least 20 residential installations with photos and addresses, written workmanship warranty (minimum 1 year), use of SNI-rated panel and inverter brands with service centers in Indonesia, and quote transparency (panels, inverter, battery, and labor itemized separately, not bundled). Or send us your situation and we will run our internal vetting checklist for you.

What does installation labor cost in Indonesia?

Installation labor typically runs Rp 1.5 to 3 million per kWp depending on roof complexity (single-storey flat roofs are cheapest, multi-storey or steep roofs cost more), location (Jakarta and major cities are more competitive, smaller cities cost more due to installer transport), and system type (off-grid is more expensive because of battery installation). For a residential 3 to 5 kWp system, total labor typically lands between Rp 5 and 15 million. Get a full estimate including panels, inverter, and battery in our calculator.

Solar terminology

A quick glossary.

Short definitions of the technical terms that come up in consultations and the calculator.

Rooftop solar PV (PLTS in Indonesian)
A system that converts sunlight into electricity using solar panels, an inverter, and an optional battery. For homes, this is sometimes called rooftop solar PV or residential solar.
kWp (kilowatt-peak)
The peak output capacity of a solar panel array under ideal sunlight. A "5 kWp system" can produce 5 kW at full sun, typically translating to 4 to 5 effective sun hours per day in Indonesia.
Inverter
The component that converts DC electricity from the panels into AC electricity used by your appliances and the PLN grid. Main types: string inverter, microinverter, and hybrid inverter (used in systems with batteries).
Grid-tied (on-grid)
A solar system that stays connected to PLN. When the panels produce enough, you use solar; at night or in bad weather, you draw from PLN. No battery required. A good fit when PLN is stable and your goal is to lower your bill.
Hybrid
A solar system with a battery that stays connected to PLN. You can store solar energy for use at night, with PLN as backup if both panels and battery run out. The investment is higher than grid-tied because of the battery.
Off-grid
A standalone solar system with no PLN connection. A battery sized for at least one full night is required. A good fit for locations PLN does not reach, or for homeowners who want full independence from the grid.
Payback period (BEP in Indonesian)
The point where accumulated savings on your PLN bill equal the upfront investment in solar. For Indonesian residential systems, this is typically 6 to 9 years, depending on bill size, system size, and PLN tariff.
Net metering / export-import
A legacy scheme that let you sell excess panel output back to PLN. Under the latest regulation, the export-import scheme is closed, so grid-tied systems now focus on self-consumption rather than selling back.
Solar consultant
An independent party that gives technical and strategic advice to a homeowner before, during, and after the decision to install solar. The consultant sits in the advisor seat (not the seller seat), provides a second opinion against vendor quotes, and coordinates the process end-to-end. Juragan Listrik is a consultant, not an installer or vendor.
Solar installer
The technical team or company that performs the physical installation of solar at your home. The installer mounts panels on the roof, wires the inverter, connects to the home electrical panel, and commissions the system. The installer is also typically responsible for the workmanship warranty (build quality), separate from the manufacturer warranty on components.
Solar vendor
A company that sells residential solar end-to-end: component procurement (panels, inverter, battery), installation labor, and sometimes after-sales service. A vendor may have an in-house installer team or subcontract to a partner installer. Most vendors in Indonesia focus on a single segment: residential, commercial, or industrial.
Solar supplier
A distributor or manufacturer of solar components (panels, inverter, batteries, mounting structure, cabling) selling to vendors and installers. Suppliers rarely deal with homeowners directly except in large volumes. Reputable Indonesian suppliers usually have service center branches in major cities for manufacturer warranty claims.
Installation labor
The physical install service, billed as a separate component in the quote (on top of panels, inverter, and battery). Typical pricing is Rp 1.5 to 3 million per kWp depending on roof complexity, location, and system type (grid-tied is cheaper than off-grid because there is no battery).
